Lila updates

*She rolled for the first time (tummy to back) on the day she turned 3 months old.  In fact, she rolled 5 times that day.  I was so excited that I called my mom and my sisters to tell them.  Then later that I night I tried to take a video of her rolling over but she wouldn't do it.  I figured I'd try again in the morning.  She still wouldn't do it.  In fact, she forgot how to roll for two weeks.  Then starting a few days ago, she's at it again and has rolled at least once a day since.  Yay for Lila--she remembered!  She's always hated tummy time, but now that her neck's getting stronger and she can roll (well at least sometimes), she usually lasts about two minutes on her tummy before the "mommy help me!!!" scream begins.  Two minutes is a BIG improvement.  Good job little girl!

*She refused to take any naps for several days in a row and we had the crankiest baby ever on our hands.  I even resorted to letting her "cry it out" (I HATE that), but couldn't take it after 20 minutes of her screaming in her crib.  Even using the "cry it out" method, she still didn't get a nap...who is this girl?  Finally I decided today to try laying down with her because she sometimes sleeps better when I'm next to her.  I also played this soothing sound machine thing we have on the rain setting.  Well, guess what?  She napped for 2 hours (and so did I)!!!  She was soooo much happier today because of that one good nap.  I hope this isn't just a fluke and we've had a breakthrough with nap time.  I tried to research babies refusing to nap on the internet, but apparently it isn't very common in 3-4 month olds because the only thing I could find was for 2+yrs.  Our little Lila has got quite a will on her, let me tell you!
I love silly baby faces!

*She's getting way better at holding her head up and remember that wobbly head in the bumbo video I posted?  Well it's not nearly as wobbly anymore.  She can hold up for a good 3-4 minutes or so if she's not bending down trying to reach her binky that's dropped out.
Isn't she amazing sitting up there all by herself?

*She's actually getting better in the car--hallelujah!!!  If this trend continues, it will seriously make my life 99% less stressful.  I never wanted to go anywhere because I dreaded making her scream the whole way.  She still doesn't love the car like a lot of babies do, but she hasn't screamed for more than 5-10 minutes on a drive in the past week.  Yippee!
Look at that happy-go-lucky baby!

*She's still the cutest, smartest, most adorable baby in the world : )
The shirt about sums it up!

hey Ashley! Ella was the SAME way about the car!! She hated her car seat and when ever the car stopped it would be like "cue the baby" she would start to scream at every stop light and stop sign. I would dread car rides. They do get better, but it didn't happen for me until she was in a forward facing carseat. I think she just wanted to see all the action. Good luck. She is sooo adorable. and those hat and mittens are to die for!

That's great that she's rolling! Jamie took forever to start rolling, she was seriously like 7 months! I remember she did it a lot more when we went to Grandma and Grandpa Hackett's when she was 8 months. Ethan still doesn't roll at all. He doesn't like tummy time either and he has a pretty flat head. I think he's going to have to wear a helmet--seriously. I'm sad about that. And about the sleeping, I just wondered if you checked out that book I suggested. If not, I'll give you a tip that it gives--try to put Lila down for a nap an hour after she wakes up. Start soothing her however you like to soothe--rocking, feeding, sucking on her binky, playing soothing music, laying down with her, whatever you like. Do that same thing every time you put her down and try to have her completely asleep before she's been awake for 2 hours. Babies can only handle 2 hours of wakefulness, max! (according to Dr. Weissbluth) This method worked for both Jamie and Ethan. At first with Jamie we were doing other things, and it was a nightmare! She wouldn't sleep either. When we started this method, she began taking 2 hour-3 hour naps.
