When we got to the front desk, I just happened to mention that it was our anniversary since the person checking us in asked what brought us to L.A. Well when we got home that night, what did we find, but a complimentary bottle of wine (don't worry, we left it all for housekeeping to enjoy), a yummy plate of fruit, and a handwritten card. Talk about service!
This is the super cool room we stayed in. One entire wall was beautiful intricate inlayed wood. The whole hotel was gorgeous and felt very luxurious. This is the rooftop pool.
All of the signs in the hotel were embroidered on different colored leather. Cool, huh?
That night Byron got in some "robe time" as he likes to call it. It makes him feel pampered and relaxed I guess. He loves hanging out in hotel robes.
Any hotel that has a giant chess set is clearly the height of luxury (ok just kidding).
Byron trying to take a sophisticated high-class shot of me.
These pictures got out of order, but as soon as we checked into the hotel on Friday, we dropped off our stuff in the room and headed out immediately to Sunset Ranch for a horseback ride through Griffith Park. Here's Byron on his horse Aslan, who we found out is the head honcho around the ranch. He loved to eat and no amount of kicking or coaxing was going to convince him not to grab a snack anytime he found a nice patch of grass. Byron eventually just gave in and let him eat when he wanted and gallop back to the front of the group when he was ready.
The gorgeous views on our ride. This is the observatory.
...and downtown L.A. I know it's smoggy, but it was still pretty.
Here's the two of us. I'm on Mouse, a sweet horse who only had one speed. I know that's typical for these trail horses.
Yes, they made us wear the helmets. That wasn't a personal fashion choice.
Our guide was really nice and had his sweet golden retriever with him the whole time. He had a lot of funny stories about celebrities coming up there (I guess the ranch was even featured on that show "The Girls Next Door"--never seen it). He was also about the fifty billionth person to tell Byron that he looks exactly like Ryan Gosling. You see it now, right? I think Byron's much cuter though. Our anniversary was definitely one to remember and I'm sooooo grateful to my parents for watching Lila and so thankful that Lila was good for them! Byron is the best husband EVER and the past two years have been pure joy starting our family together. I'm so excited to see what the many years ahead have in store for us.

Okay that hotel looks AMAZING! Sign me up please! I LOVE staying in really nice hotels. I totally agree, it's all about the service! Thats funny about Ryan Gosling cuz My Dan has been told that a time or too as well. I guess it's the hair color?? Funny huh. Catch wait to catch up on our walks once our company leaves town.
That looks like so much fun! The hotel does look amazing! Brad and I stayed in a hotel in LA on our honeymoon and we loved it! It was so nice. I hope to go back some day.
