I got the best present ever for my birthday: a sewing machine!!! I am not AT ALL crafty and I don't know anything about sewing, but I think there must be something about becoming a mother that brings out that side of you. I found the cutest pattern online for baby shoes, and here's the result:
1) Such a cute shoe but waaaaay too big for Lila. I haven't made the other one yet. The fabric is leftover from an Ikea sheet set that I used to re-cover a rocking chair in Lila's room. Kinda cute, huh?
2) My second attempt at making a shoe that will fit Lila. Apparently a little bit goes a long way when trying to size a pattern down because these shoes are tiny! They almost fit Lila, but they'd be much better for a newborn. I'm planning to give them to someone as a gift. The first pic is obviously the bottom of the shoes. 
3) After finishing all these shoes that don't fit Lila, I decided to try my hand at dressmaking. I found a simple pattern online and voila--here it is (with lots of my own added little embellishments): 
The ribbons are from baby shower gifts and the felt flower is leftover from the poodle skirt I made for Halloween. I haven't tried it on her yet, but it looks a little short...I hope it fits!

These are absolutely adorable! I love the shoes and the dress. You'll have to take a picture of Lila wearing the dress. Love you!
I'm so impressed! I'll be calling you for help when I unpack my sewing machine! I love the little shoes- too cute. And please! That dress...love it!
Way to go Ashley! I'm so impressed. I got a sewing machine from Matt's mom, and it's still on the top shelf in the closet where I put it the day I got it! Hahaha! Nice job on the shoes, etc...
