Happy 8 months little one!

I can't believe Lila is already eight months old! Here are a few tidbits about our favorite gal:
  • She loves licking her lips and always has her tongue out in an irresistibly cute manner.
  • When she's excited, she scrunches her face up and sniffs hyperventilation style through her nose.
  • She still has no interest in crawling.
  • She's great at sitting and can theoretically do so for hours without falling over, but she much prefers standing and has a killer knee locking maneuver that stops us from sitting her down when she doesn't want to.
  • She's already getting sick of baby food and will eat any adult food she can get her hands on. Don't put a plate anywhere near her or she'll snatch something off of it faster than you can blink. We've started giving her cheerios and little bits of cut up fruit. I think she just wants to feel like a big girl.
  • She still wakes up once in the early morning (4 or 5 a.m.) for a feeding. I don't think she's really hungry, she's just on that schedule and I'm not sure how to get her off of it.
  • She wakes up at 7, takes a nap between 9 and 9:30, another one between 1 and 2, and goes to bed at 7. Her naps are pretty much and hour and half on the dot each. Babies' internal clocks are amazing! I never thought we'd be on a schedule but we are! It's not perfect every day, but it's soooo much better when I'm strict about it--we're both happier that way.
  • As previously mentioned, she doesn't like anyone but her parents holding her, something she'll hopefully outgrow soon.
  • She's only had a babysitter once and that was after she was already asleep. We don't want to leave anyone with a scared, screaming baby! We'd probably have to pay at least $50/hr and we can't afford that.
  • She's super ticklish on her neck, sides, and legs. I love making her laugh!
  • She still extremely alert and wide-eyed and people haven't stopped asking if she ever blinks!
  • I call her bubbas, boo boo, bubba booboo, stinky binky, stinker bummer etc. Aren't silly names fun to use for babies?
  • Still not a stroller lover and thank goodness for the moby wrap.
  • She loves being outside, going on walks, and swinging. We go on a walk around the neighborhood almost every morning and I like to think she looks forward to that time we spend together : )
  • She starting to love bath time and kicks all around like a little swimmer every time she's in the water.
  • She still LOVES her binky, but mostly uses it just when she's tired.
  • Still no sign of teeth.
I love you Lila Jane!

These were so fun to read! Especially since Lila is where Hallie was at a year ago. I'm so sad I can't watch her for you guys tomorrow. I really want to!

When Hallie would wake up in the early morning hours, I ended up just putting a pacifier in her mouth instead of feeding her. She'd go back to sleep until she woke up for the day. Not sure if you'd already tried that, but you can give it a shot if you haven't.

It was so much fun to see you guys at Mark and Suzanne's house. Lila is adorable--even cuter in person. Ethan still doesn't want to sit. He just rolls around all the time. When he sits up he reaches for stuff in front of him and falls on his face and then cries, but he doesn't attempt to get back up.

What fun details to read and learn about Lila. I feel like I know her a little bit and I love the fact that she would have to warm up to me if we ever met. Roger is the exact opposite, which can be scary at times, as he will stare down or be held by absolutely anybody. I think he has mommy anxiety! And in regards to crawling, be grateful, as it adds a whole new dimension to parenting when they get mobile. A fun dimension, but a hard one.
I'm sorry I haven't called. We have been moving for a week and Matt is almost done with school, so I am almost back to normal. I plan to call this week!
